Early in his career, Eisenhorn served as an interrogator under Inquisitor Hapshant, alongside Titus Endor, with whom he developed a strong and lasting friendship. After eventually attaining the rank of Inquisitor himself, Eisenhorn enjoyed several successful years establishing his reputation. During this period, he began assembling the core members of his retinue, including the savant Uber Aemos and the skilled pilot Midas Betancore.
His relentless pursuit of the Imperium’s enemies ultimately brought him into conflict with the notorious murderer and Chaos agent Murdin Eyclone, a confrontation that would set in motion the chain of events that defined the rest of Eisenhorn’s life and career.
Eisenhorn’s pursuit of Eyclone eventually led him to Hubris, a planet plagued by long periods of sub-zero temperatures. During these extreme freezes, the population survives by entering cycles of cryogenic sleep. Eyclone’s plan was to sabotage the cryosleep system, condemning the entire population to die while they slept.
Eisenhorn later uncovered the true purpose behind this atrocity: Eyclone intended to use the mass death as part of a ritual to empower and resurrect one of the Imperium’s most infamous heretics, Pontius Glaw.
